After finishing with the English lists, it’s time for the Spanish. Sadly, there aren’t many I can include. Lots of them don’t fit the criteria I’m looking for.
I feel like there aren’t many people using X to learn Spanish. I know I’m not. YouTube and Instagram are usually my go-to.
Anyway, unlike English, I only categorized them by level: beginner and intermediate. It’s hard to find fun and engaging ones, so that’s out the window, but these will do;
I find this very convenient because even though I speak English, I always learn new words every day. Only one or two accounts below don’t have this.
I believe this activity can help strengthen learners’ understanding further. Only one account matches this.
Having videos where learners can hear Spanish being spoken is super helpful. They can learn to imitate the way natives speak or simply hear the pronunciation of vocabulary. Only one beginner and intermediate account has this.
¡Vámonos!
It’s exactly what the description says. They post one phrase daily. A somewhat relevant image, with an English translation, is all you get. If you’re into phrases and don’t mind learning random ones, go ahead.
This account is upper beginner-friendly. Just note that they aren’t very active.
I feel like the list won’t be complete without mentioning SpanishDictionary, but don’t get your hopes up. As expected from the name ‘dictionary’, one word a day. That’s it. How about an exercise? None.
A beginner would love it as it’s not overwhelming. There’s just an image with the word, how to pronounce it, the English translation, and the word category (noun, verb, etc). They give an example in both Spanish and English.
Initially, I didn’t want to include this, but I decided to proceed because someone (beginners) might like it. This is a pronunciation-based account. You’ll get one word daily with its pronunciation (Spanish from Spain) and English translation. No example or exercise.
What baffles me is that they have a 9-second video but only pronounce the word once 😒
Anyone who’s been learning Spanish for a while would recognize the name. The first time I encountered them was through their podcast.
On X, they post a brief explanation of a new episode every day, linking to their podcast. You can practice your reading and pronunciation skills apart from listening.
However, the content is fully in Spanish. If you’re an upper-intermediate and above, you’ll be able to follow. They post other things too, such as current news, promotions and whatnot.
One lesson a day. A variety of exercises targeting different skills. Apart from that, they post about the Spanish language, culture, and fun facts. Expect to see some of these;
The majority of the posts are in Spanish, except for vocabulary. They just give the English translation of the word, not the example. Some of the exercises require you to do them on their site to find the answers.
I wish they would respond to people’s replies regarding the multiple-choice questions. What’s the correct answer and why? There’s no such explanation given.
If you’re a beginner, this account isn’t for you. It’s more suitable for intermediate.
Upon scrolling his feed, I love his Frase del día post the most. It’s beyond the typical one you always see. Marlon posts phrases from both Spain and the Latin American countries.
He includes these and ends with a question for you.
Marlon’s content seems to be geared towards an intermediate level. You’ll see him repost tweets from other Spanish-related accounts as well.
Bueno, ¡eso es todo! I won’t do a part two unless I find more worthwhile accounts. Do you use X as one of your resources? Let me know in the comments below.
